In the State of Texas, Mr. Ortega's clients have enjoyed not guilty verdicts in cases ranging from driving while intoxicated to aggravated assault. In the State of New Mexico, Mr. Ortega's clients have enjoyed not guilty verdicts in a variety of felony cases to include sexual assault.
Mr. Ortega has also represented a wide range of clients in Federal Appellate Courts including cases involving drugs, internet crime, money laundering, and insurance fraud. He has also successfully defended a fellow attorney before the Board of Disciplinary Appeals in a compulsory disbarment proceeding. Mr. Ortega successfully achieved an en banc favorable ruling from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in a civil law case where he represented a Border Patrol Agent charged with civil liberty violations.
In 2012, Mr. Ortega was appointed as a special prosecutor in the prosecution of 3 organized crime members indicted for hate crimes. This resulted in prison sentences for the crimes they were convicted of.
